Dr. Chapman attended Trinity University and the University of Houston and earned his pre-med degree in 1971. After medical school, an internship and completing his residency in general surgery at the University of Texas in Houston, he completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Chapman was then awarded a fellowship with Houston-Sports Medicine consultant of several area schools.

Dr. Chapman joined the Sports Medicine Clinic of North Texas in 1993 and is team physician for Rowlett High School, consultant to Rockwall and Lakeview Centenniel High Schools and former physician for Trinity Christian High School, Addison, Texas. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and has offices in Dallas and Winnsboro.
